David has over 35 years of professional experience teaching choral, vocal and piano techniques.
When David is coaching students, conducting the Brazos Chamber Orchestra, Healing Heart and Bosque Chorale as well as guest conducting or leading choral workshops and music festivals, you will experience an event full of energy, passion and excellence!
David attributes his understanding of choral and vocal sound to his mentor, teacher and good friend, the late Maestro Paul Salamunovich.
Lessons are offered both in person & online. Lessons are $35 for a half hour lesson once a week. We also can offer one hour lessons once a week.
- Voice Lessons - consist of learning how to create sound. Singing is about two things - air & vibration. When the air is right, then the vibration will be right. Much time is dedicated to correcting & developing how to breathe and support the vibration. This is not about style, it is about technique. Once the student is capable of creating breath & vibration, then the focus is on the message of the song. If you have no message, then you have no song.
- Piano Lessons - consist of developing technique. How does one press the piano keys down & what does the hand look like? Once you develop hand technique, you are free to play whatever you want. Much time is spent on this technique. Then the focus is on the message of the song. Music must speak and say something. Our 10 year old granddaughter once said 'There is a song in every note'.
